Live pet for Easter?!

It has become a tradition to give pets to our children at Easter. And so, alongside chocolate chicks and bunnies, many households are also seeing the arrival of furry or feathered pets. Despite the fact that for years now there has been a serious media coverage of the fact that most of the time chicks, ducks and bunnies die in the infatuation of children, many people fall into this mistake again!

How to do it right?

In my opinion, chicks, ducks and even rabbits are not the perfect pet for your child. After all, the primary purpose of a pet is for the child to develop an intimate relationship with it. So love in relationship learns and experiences concepts such as caring, responsibility, and unconditional acceptance and love! I can’t think of a better gift for a child!

DE!!!

Still the classic pets are dogs and cats, who can really fill this role in the family. I will not go into the topic of choosing a dog or a cat. Very briefly, dogs also need regular exercise on walks, which not all families can afford, especially those living in an apartment. The cost of keeping dogs also significantly exceeds the cost of keeping cats. I’m thinking here of the recommended vaccination programme, which for dogs means a lot of vaccinations in the first year, while for cats, in a good case the kitten has already received everything from the breeder and only needs to be taken for the annual booster vaccination after the age of 1! Food costs are also several times higher for dogs than for cats.

It’s no secret that as a breeder of Burmese Holy Templars, I prefer to emphasise the benefits of cat ownership. 🙂 But the most important considerations are just as valid for choosing a dog, cat or any pet really!!!

Make sure that the living conditions are optimal for your pet. Let’s make a considered, responsible decision, not jump into something that could end in tragedy. This has the opposite effect on our child (disappointment, loss) than we would have liked.

The life of every living creature is sacred and not expendable! Not only we and our children, but also pets have feelings, needs, wants and indeed rights!!! They are not toys in the hands of children!

In case you decide to buy a dog or cat, choose carefully where to buy it from. Choose a breeding pet only from an informed, reliable kennel!!!

Cheap is often the most expensive!!!

Let’s not fall for it! You cannot buy a Jaguar for the price of a Suzuki!!!! If you are not adopting a rescued pet from a charity or foundation, but are looking for a purebred puppy or kitten, you should not buy cheap.

Indeed, quality breeders make a very significant investment in their animals, in terms of housing, food, veterinary costs and, not least, labour. You cannot sell puppies cheaper than they cost. So if a pet is cheap, it is 100% sure that it has not been given everything it needs for its healthy development! So we will pay for it later! As we know, much, much more expensive than if we had chosen carefully from a quality place!

A quality pet from a premium kennel is well worth waiting for! This is a great opportunity to prepare for the arrival of a new family member. Children learn patience, commitment and when the expected pet arrives. then the joy and happiness that comes with it will be much deeper and more intense!
