What makes a dog or cat kennel premium quality?
7 reasons why a pet breeding kennel, in my case the Saba Burmese Holy Church Cat kennel, is in a premium category both at home and internationally. This article gives a brief overview of the issue, without going into each point in detail. I will discuss each point in more detail in later articles. Of course, the different areas cannot be separated and interact with each other continuously.
- 1, Health care, preservation, prevention, development! The first priority for every pet owner is to buy a healthy pet from a breeder. How can this be achieved? What is the breeding guarantee? What are the aspects e.g.: veterinary screening tests for cats that help to minimise the development of certain diseases. The good news is that the Burmese Holy Temple cat has no known genetic breed disease!
- 2, Nutrition, feeding vitamins and other nutritional supplements. I don’t think anyone needs to be told the importance of this. After all, genetics is one thing, but how animals develop is largely determined by the quality of the feed they are given with the other nutritional supplements they need to develop. how this is actually done in reality is a more interesting question. - 3, Habitat design, keeping and breeding of small animals in a quality environment. A special environment for animals is essential for their healthy development and for ethical and welfare reasons. This environment should meet important hygiene requirements, as well as the animals’ needs for exercise, rest, food and play, adapted to their lifestyle. In the case of Birman cats, a loving family, a daily intimate relationship with the owner is essential!
- 4, Taking care of the animals’ spiritual needs is often more difficult than meeting their vegetative needs! Unfortunately, many animal breeding kennels do not pay enough attention to this. It is IMPORTANT that they live in a stress-free environment where their spiritual needs are met. For cats, it is particularly important that they will definitely not feel comfortable with many cats crammed into a small space. They live in constant tension, which later produces physical symptoms. The Burmese Holy Temple Cat has a particularly fine soul. He likes company, but he can’t stand crowds. For every Birman cat, it is important to have “alone time” to be pampered and stroked by his owner. It is as important to him as fresh water and clean air!
- 5, Breed-appropriate appearance and look. Each breed has a standard description. This determines what the breed looks like. Dogs and cats must also meet these criteria at shows in front of international judges. Unfortunately, often the criticisms are subjective or serve fashion trends. In my opinion, a long term breeding farm must keep in mind the preservation and breeding of the variety. Not to follow the latest fashion trend. Saba Birman kennel strongly discourages the breeding of Persian cat-looking Burmese Holy Temple cats following fashion trends!
- 6, Customer relations and customer information are also essential for quality pet breeding kennels. The quality of customer care can also be a premium service. This includes the creation and operation of quality online platforms. The creation of a customer-friendly image that makes it easier for interested buyers to find their way around, for example when choosing a variety. I would also include communication and contact with customers and interested parties. One of last year’s biggest investments in the Saba Birman kennel was the publication of the new website.
- 7, Raising awareness, promoting quality animal husbandry, animal welfare. Lectures, species presentations, publication of professional articles on national and international platforms. To help our country’s image in terms of quality animal husbandry and breeding by participating in international competitions, conferences and successful participation. The main idea behind this article is that, in my opinion, it is not enough to have an excellent performance in each point to become a premium kennel, but you have to be able to have an excellent performance in each point at the same time!!! This is only possible with many years of tireless work, dedication, constant development and improvement. Being a premium dog or cat breeder is not a job, it’s a vocation!!!
